This is Kenton and I's first New Year's as a married couple. . .we really didn't know what to expect for our first New Year's Eve. We have heard that parties are always a little more lame when you are married but we never anticipated the lameness that this New Year's Eve celebration would bring. . . this was our schedule of events.
2:30- Brittney returned from work to two bowls of half eaten soup and a sleeping husband.
5:00- Brittney searched the town of Rexburg for the best soup ever- G's Dairy is what we suggest.
5:30- Kenton mustered the energy to move from the bed to the couch (yes, this is a five foot walk-no stairs involved- it was quite the accomplishment) to eat some soup.
6:00- Kenton and Brittney watched a move as they both tried to lay on the couch (Kenton is 6'3" and this just isn't such a good idea)
9:45- Kenton went to bed for what he said would be five to ten minutes (he did not wake up until 9:30 New Year's morning)
12:02- Brittney realized it was the New Year. She went to wake Kenton to wish him a Happy New Year. He mumbled Happy New Year but does not remember doing so.
I woke up this morning thinking this was an unusual New Year's Eve and that they just had to get better from here on out. But, Kenton took all that hope away as he explained his history with the New Year holiday. The New Year's just before his mission, was spent with one friend spinning cookies on the high school football field to avoid a lame party. The New Year's before that was spent helping two friends grieve over the girlfriends that just broke up with them. And the New Year's before that involved a tragic event where Kenton accidentally sat on a friend's dad's precious chest piece from Japan. . . they haven't really been friends since. Needless to say, Kenton has issues with the holiday and this one was of no exception. Hopefully we can change that next year!
{New Year's Day}:
Seeing as how New Year's Eve was so lame, we decided to be a little more active and do something New Year's-ish. For this reason, Kenton pulled out the WiiFit he got me for Christmas. Just for fun, we decided to do a little body analysis.
The results: Kenton has weak abs (this was concluded after he failed his center of balance test-we blame his sickness) and his WiiFit age is 55! Yes, that is +33 years of his real age.
Brittney, is overweight (I blame the baby) and her WiiFit age is 41 (I blame the baby again).
We have vowed to re-test when Kenton is feeling better and I am not caring the extra weight of a child- we have our fingers crossed!
But, with all seriousness, we loved 2009! It was the best year yet! We are SO excited for 2010! We are excited for our little Afton to come and all the joys and challenges that will bring. We feel SO lucky to be around so much family and so many friends. Thank you all for being a part of our lives- we wish you the best in 2010!
Britt-
ReplyDeleteI was telling Kurt just the other day how excited I am for little Afton to come. I can't wait to see what she looks like and there is always something fun about having such a special new spirit around! Only 2 more weeks!
Your new years sounds a lot like ours!! Chad was running a fever and had body aches and chills the whole day. It was a lazy new years eve for us too.
