Last night we were lucky enough to see this band in concert. . .
. . .and although they are amazing on YouTube, the live version was INCREDIBLE!
You may recognize Nate, the lead singer, from the band the Format (another favorite of ours). . .
It is obvious that they are SUPER talented, but live, their talent is at a whole new level.
We waited in line for an hour and half before getting in so that we could get good seats. Then the intro band played for about an hour, it was a little after ten when Fun. finally came on. Kenton and I were so tired, we thought we might leave a little early and go home to bed. But, the second they started playing, our fatigue left and we just had to stay until the encore was finished!
We have gone to a few concerts in our relationship, and I would place these guys just below the great Ben Harper. There is something amazing about watching people who are so talented and absolutely love what they do. You can't fake that!
The concert was amazing, but the atmosphere was a little shocking for us! We knew CU was a huge party school but we failed to put two and two together- needless to say, the line experience was a little interesting. We could definitely smell Marijuana being smoked and much weirdness in the wardrobe department.
When the concert began, I leaned over to Kenton and mentioned that in concerts in Idaho or Utah, the artists are always saying how amazing the crowd is and how they love to play there. I never really got that until last night. The crowd was so high and/or drunk, they were super mellow! I thought it was only a overly analyitical comment of mine, but Andrew's (the drum guy) comment confirmed it for me. He said, "We aren't passing judgement, this is just an observation, there is a ton of pot in Boulder" then Nate said, "Ya, everyone seems SUPER melllllow." I just had to laugh.
Needless to say. Music, amazing! Crowd, not so much!
Next time: we will probably be sticking to concerts in Denver
Here are our lame pics that we took with our camera phone because Kenton was too nervous his camera would get broken in the concert.

Kurt and I loved going to concerts together, we haven't been in forever, since we had kids I guess, I think we need to start doing that again:) Still need a pregnancy picture since I cant see you in person, call me this week while Kenton is out of town, I tried calling you like 3 times but never got an answer:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun. To bad for the performers that the audience missed most the show. Can't wait to come see you!
